As I was surfing the internet this morning looking for data on trucking accidents (semis, tractor trailers, commercial vehicles in general, etc.), I came across the Department of Transportation’s website. They offer crash profiles for large truck and bus accidents.
The site provides national and state statistics and includes information such as the number of trucks and buses involved in both fatal and non-fatal crashes, the number involved in injury crashes and the number of crashes involving hazardous materials. Their data is provided by the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and the Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS).
