The buzz word today is that many people apply the word frivolous lawsuit to most personal injury lawsuits . Frivolous is defined as having little value or importance . Recently , Injuryboard made me aware of a lawsuit filed in Wahington D.C. for 65 million dollars over a pair of pants that a dry cleaner damaged . The person that filed it was reported to be a magistrate . This type of lawsuit hurts my clients who are hardworking people that have been harmed in an accident or injury case . The public thinks that lawyers are simply money hungry and will sue anyone for anything . This perception is fueled by these type of outrageous stories . I hope the person is sanctioned by filing this case . Most courts are empowered to sanction a party if it has no merit or baseless . Most attorneys that I know care about their clients and want to use the legal system in the right way , to help our clients and to protect the public safety . I wish that guy would have called me . I would have paid for his pants to prevent this type of silly lawsuit .
