All my friends who ride motorcycles always gripe about Tennessee’s helmet laws . Once you become used to seeing riders with helmets , it is hard when you see riders in other states ride without them . I was in Arizona and saw no one riding a helmet . Should one be given a choice on whether to use safety equipment or not ? I think so as long as that person is willing to accept the risk of riding a bike without a helmet . Tennessee requires both the driver and passenger to wear crash helmets that meet the federal motor vehicle safety standards.
