A Franklin , Tennessee man was killed on January 6 , 2007 when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle . Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Browning stated the driver lost control of his motorcycle in the middle of the curve . The driver who was wearing a helmet at the time died on the scene . According to the Hurt Report , in single vehicle accidents , motorcycle rider error was present as a precipitating factor in about two-thirds of the cases , the typical error being a slide out and fall due to overbraking or running wide on a curve due to excess speed and undercornering .
